![]() ![]() Interesting part is as soon as I uninstalled this heavy loaded ~2Gig PDF reader and install 7MB Sumatra, everything just works out of the box, no settings nothing which make it clear that either Xyplorer is not behaving properly with Foxit or Foxit in itself has some issues. Unticked user-defined handlers are in screenshot but I tried ticking and adding it with different permutation combinantions but in vain. įoxit support said to run the following command: Don't know what is exactly wrong with my setup.ģ69-16092022-115153-%t.jpg (188.7 KiB) Viewed 943 times 367-16092022-115027-%t.jpg (106.26 KiB) Viewed 943 times 366-16092022-114909-%t.jpg (252.72 KiB) Viewed 943 timesĬan't help, no version / bitness information for Foxit, "Foxit support said something" (but you don't tell us what), your "User-Defined Preview Handlers" entry in "Categories" isn't even checked (so why do you think they are used at all)?įoxit PDF Editor 12.0. Then I uninstalled Sumatra, now I am back to zero.Ĭurrently I have only foxit installed as default, PDF preview in Xyplorer are working fine, I think I have all the settings correct (see attachments).įor the errors in Foxit re-register command I am talking with Foxit team. I thought Foxit is working now (it was not). I also discussed it with Foxit team and they suggested few commands to re-register foxit preview and thumbnail handlers and I did it succesfully (with Sumatra PDF still installed) I set Foxit to be default PDF viewer and then searched for content and everything worked. I had set the Foxit preview handler in XY as User defined preview handler This worked in all places including XY and had some nice function.Īfter some tests I deinstalled it because it puts a copy of every file you preview in the users temp dir. Location: Enter your folders here separated by or a and use the Contents tab for what you're searching inside of them. Thanks for all your help, guys.I appreciate it.Fo testing I had installed the Foxit PDF preview handler. pdf preview handler installed (which should not be Adobes.): Name & Location tab. ![]() (I am not sure DO is the right app, either, for similar reasons, but it does at least offer the ability to record searches using windows own systems, so it at least has a work around.but the I like the tagging system less) I find the tagging a bit clunky, but I could probably get used to it.but if I can't find the files I want to tag then it misses the point for me. If I am going to pay $40 for something, it has to at least match what the native File Explorer can do. It is starting to look as if this is not the app for me. So,I am not sure this is a filter issue for XYPlorer, at least a far that is concerned. The other app I am trialling is Directory Opus, which has the same problem as XYplorer in that I can't get it to read the contents of PDF files, but DO *can* read the contents of a Libre Office file, *.odt. Thanks for the response.interesting to see it can, or at least could work with PDFs, but sadly doesn't really take me any further forward. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer as to what I am doing wrong, I attach a screen capture, if this helps, together with a screen capture from a File Explorer search on the same content. Just to be explicitly clear, the PDF file I am using for my search is text searchable both internally and by File Explorer. There may issues with other files, I don’t know because at this point I stopped looking, because PDF are not exactly obscure file types. I can use XYExplorer to search the content of text files, but I can’t make it search either PDF or ODT files. I can search by file content on the native File Explorer, including PDF files and ODT (Libre Office) files. I have let the indexing process run its full course. I have set Indexing Option to “Index Properties and File Contents”. I have installed Adobe PDF Ifilter 11 (64 bit) and Adobe PDG Ifilter 6.0 (32 bit?). I have been researching my needs for a couple of weeks and I am down to Xyplorer and one other product, and I have both installed on a trial basis. ![]() At this stage, two things are important to me.ġ) A user friendly tagging system for all files (something like what MusicBee uses would be great) I am new to file management at this level of complexity. ![]()
